Been reading through Jay Cross's new book - "informal learning - rediscovering the natural pathways that inspire innovation and performance" during the holiday break. Way more learning happens in the coffee room than the classroom, but firms continue to spend way more on formal training than informal learning - there is a huge disconnect right there.
(Last edited on May 29, 2009) When you choose the best project management software for your needs , you most likely want the tool to: save you time, release you from routine operations, be easy to use, support collaboration, and keep operations transparent to you. What kind of software will meet your expectations? Web-based collaboration software is the most practical answer.
Every year and even every month, new technologies, markets and competitors spring up, and today’s businesses have to be agile to be able to face the impending challenges. In such an unstable environment, traditional principles of managing product development may lead companies to failure. If the product requirements change drastically from the time the product is designed to the moment when it is released, it can result in the delivery of outdated products.
Among other concepts of effectiveness, Steven draws our attention to organization. How can you organize your life? Steven’s idea is that you should get a good tool that will help you to organize. They are: Coherence Balance Motivation Ability to deal with people Flexibility Accessibility If you have a tool that matches all these criteria, you will be able to organize your plans and activities.

Before I start digging into project management transformation due to Web 2.0 technologies, I would like to share some thoughts on the basic impacts of Enterprise 2.0 on companies’ structure and corporate culture. One of the most important impacts of Enterprise 2.0, as I mentioned in my previous post is changing the management pattern inside an organization.
We have developed a Timeline, which is mostly known as a Gantt Chart. Now you can: – have the big picture of parallel projects, – track the work load of your team members, and – create elegantly designed outlines of plans. All these tasks are a huge challenge when using other online project management and collaboration tools, aren’t they?
We have just released a pack of long-expected features. They will help you manage and visualize your plans and track progress. We also hope they will please you with their usability and intelligence. 1) In many respects, our main innovation, a timeline, is unique among online collaboration tools. You may feel lucky when you can easily update plans and spend a minimum of time to notify your team about the changes.
You can manage multiple projects in one place. “One place” means only one account. You create an account and organize ALL of your plans there. Unlike other tools , Wrike provides you uniquely convenient way to achieve total information awareness on all projects. In other words, you can share any part of your project plans with the appropriate associates, then manage them in one workspace simultaneously.

Over the past decade, companies have embraced innovation with enthusiasm—Chief Innovation Officers have been hired, and in-house incubators, accelerators, and co-creation labs have been launched. CEOs have spoken with passion about “making everyone an innovator” and the need “to disrupt our own business.” But after years of experimentation, senior leaders are asking: Is this still just an experiment, or are we in it for the long haul?
On my recent visit to Australia, I spoke at the 2nd Annual Law Tech Summit in Noosa, Australia. Put on by the fine team at Chilli Marketing Solutions, it was a very well organized event, with a lot of great content. The highlights for me, were the keynote given by Richard Susskind who's concepts and theories have heavily influenced how I view IT within legal, and Peter Williams , a Partner at Deliotte and CEO of their web and software development business, Ecplise.
Thank goodness there are lawyers out there willing and able to cull down commentary from the Sedona Conference into bite-sized morsels we can all consume. In this case, Ralph Losey has done a great job on his blog in summarizing the most recent commentary from the Sedona Conference , published in August of 2007. What's interesting is direct verbiage from the Sedona Search Team almost admonishing the reliance on simple keyword search technology for the review of ESI : the experience of many litig
That seems to be the question on the minds of many these days. Or more softly put, how do CKOs ( or other KM types) fit into a world with strategically minded CIOs and other IT folks. Technology has also gained a solid footing in the KM space and while there is debate as to how far technology can be taken to replace people (especially in PSL roles) it's certainly established itself as an important tool.
Dr. Larry Richard , who heads up the Leadership and Development practice group for Hildebrandt recently spoke at my firm's Partner Retreat, where he opined on a number of points. One of the more interesting dilemmas facing law firms is succession planning for all the baby-boomer partners heading towards retirement. In his presentation, 'The Talent Challenge: Lessons on Lawyers and Leaders', Dr.
Construction projects are high-stakes operations where even minor inefficiencies can lead to costly delays, safety concerns, and budget overruns. Managing risk in construction has always been a challenge, but as projects grow in complexity, traditional methods no longer cut it. Enter Digital Transformation - a game changer approach that replaces inefficiency with AI-powered analytics, real-time monitoring, and automated workflows to proactively manage risk.
Well, our portal was officially switched over last Tuesday, January 16 th , 2007. We spent last week doing office-by-office roadshows, giving demos to both staff and lawyers. Because of how we designed the site, it was important to break out the training sessions and we used 'volunteers' from the audience to log in with their account so people could see first hand how the system would look to them.
If you manage a company, you may need to keep track of every team or department separately. In this case, you create “Marketing” and “Sales” folders of tasks shared with your marketing managers and sales representatives appropriately. Then you put new tasks in the relevant folder. However, often the responsibilities of the team members can intersect.
Surfing the Web, I come across different interpretations of the notion of Enterprise 2.0. Since the initial term of Web 2.0 refers to a perceived, not a defined, second generation of Web-based communities, there is no strict, common definition of Enterprise 2.0. So it’s not surprising that many people get confused and mix up Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0.
I was invited to give a speech at the Project 2.0 panel of the Office 2.0 Conference, which will take place in San Francisco on September 5-7. The conference is established by Ismael Ghalimi, author of the popular IT|Redix blog. He together with a group of other bloggers managed to make the conference a significant event for the IT world. This conference will be focused on product demonstrations, adoption of Web 2.0 technologies in the enterprise and mobile productivity arenas.
Large enterprises face unique challenges in optimizing their Business Intelligence (BI) output due to the sheer scale and complexity of their operations. Unlike smaller organizations, where basic BI features and simple dashboards might suffice, enterprises must manage vast amounts of data from diverse sources. What are the top modern BI use cases for enterprise businesses to help you get a leg up on the competition?
We will have a demo presentation at DemoCamp (which is part of BarCamp ) – an un-conference event held in Palo Alto, California on the 18th of August from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. BarCamp is an ad-hoc community, members of which share and learn in an open environment. This year is the BarCamp anniversary, and the organizers booked rooms for 500 participants.
Richard Morochove tells how web-based project management applications help to coordinate the work of employee teams. He compares Basecamp and Wrike. The post PC World compares web-based project management tools (Basecamp and Wrike) appeared first on Blog Wrike.
One of the questions that I often get is, "Will Wrike’s user interface be translated in [insert your favorite language]?" It will. Meanwhile, feel free to use your favorite language as you create tasks. People already do it in Spanish, French, Russian, German, Chinese and many other languages. Recently I gave a talk at the Project Management Tools and Techniques Forum , organized by the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Project Management Institute.
Thousands people have been using Wrike in beta, and as of today, the professional version of Wrike is released! Dear beta subscribers, thank you very much for using Wrike. As we look ahead to 2025, business intelligence and data analytics are set to play pivotal roles in shaping success. Organizations are already starting to face a host of transformative trends as the year comes to a close, including the integration of AI in data analytics, an increased emphasis on real-time data insights, and the growing importance of user experience in BI solutions.
Besides functionality , we also made some changes in the interface. In task details We added the Start date and Duration fields. By default, the Start date is today, and the duration is 1 day. This will keep your associates with whom the task is shared from missing the task. If your task takes only 2 days to fulfill, you can make the start date today and the due date one month later.
Unexpectedly, we received plenty of questions about how to start using the timeline (simplified gantt chart), which was outlined in the last demo. On the one hand, we didn’t know that word spread so fast. On the other, we have strengthened our confidence enough to give you a graphical view of your plans as soon as possible. Now we are doing our final usability studies and stabilization.
Wrike keeps up its status as one of the “the most promising companies” from Europe ( LeWeb3 ) to the US. One day after the STIRR Wrike appears Under the Radar. Organizational change experts stress the need to develop agile companies. Major Enterprise 2.0 theorists say that new-generation technologies can turn inflexible companies into agile and efficient organizations. They praise social software for optimizing management and overall company activity. To start with, why is the word “ agility ” so popular in management nowadays?
