A balanced scorecard is a way to monitor progress against a set of key, agreed measures. Companies typically have goals to focus on each year, such as revenue growth or health and safety targets. Scrum is designed to empower teams, enhance collaboration, and increase adaptability. Yet, many teams fall into the trap of pre-assigning tasks at the start of a Sprint, believing it boosts efficiency. While the intention is good, this approach contradicts Scrums core principles and hampers performance. Developers are always accountable for: Creating a plan for the Sprint, the Sprint Backlog; Instilling quality by adhering to a Definition of Done; Adapting their plan each day toward the Sprint G
Delegation is one of the most powerful tools available to a project manager. Yet, many managers struggle with it, often feeling like they need to do everything themselves to ensure quality and efficiency. While this instinct is understandable, failing to delegate can lead to burnout, bottlenecks, and an underdeveloped team. Effective delegation frees time for higher-level strategic tasks, strengthens the team, builds confidence, and improves overall productivity.
We have all been there: It is the beginning of a new project, and the the scope is not yet completely clear. Yet, you are supposed to present a rough plan with tasks, estimated effort und approximate deadlines the kick-off meeting. Decision-making is highly inefficient. To break through the noise, the best decision-makers use a mix of convergent and divergent thinking.
Projects are made up of tasks. Each of those tasks needs to be completed to meet certain quality standards. However, they also have to be done safely and, often, under specific conditions or regulatory requirements. A method statement is a document that ensures tasks check these boxes. Finding the right supplier for your project can have a huge impact on whether you deliver successfully or not. A good supplier will work with you to create a positive partnership with the shared goal of getting the work done on time and to the required specification. A not-so-good supplier will make it harder to work collaboratively and creates a tension in that working relationship that you could really do without.
