I’ve always found giving feedback a bit awkward – even positive feedback where I was praising someone for a job well done. It has got easier now I have children, because frankly I get to practice giving feedback all day at home! It's also got easier knowing some of the theory, and while I was doing my mentoring training I got to understand several feedback methods in detail.
Most of us know that you cannot guarantee outcomes or control circumstances in complex, unpredictable environments. Even though we might know this in our rational brain, most of us struggle with a desire for control and guarantees. It shows up us anxiety, worry, frustration, hyper-productivity , and stress. And this of course affects how we are leading and the decisions we make.
Today’s professional landscape is a tapestry of new possibilities, unique challenges, and a myriad of solutions to address those challenges. In this environment, the key to success is adaptability.
