Most IMPs in development programs include Events for major design reviews such as PDR or CDR. The IMP shows the Accomplishments and the measures of Accomplishments that are essential to get through a design review. If the organization is restructured or the WBS is changed, review the IMP and update it accordingly.
You wouldn't do that with a lawn mowing service, you wouldn't do that after your car was repaired, and you certainly wouldn't do that after spending perhaps 100's of 1,000's of dollar on a vague and ill defined product development process where your firm's success depends on that work produced by the developmentteam. .
