You won’t find anything in PRINCE2 about people management or the soft skills of project management, although these are covered in other related books. I just finished the last chapter of Susanne Madsen’s piece on The Power of Project Leadership (2nd edition). I closed her exceptional book completely inspired and itching to get a copy in the hands of both LiquidPlanner employees and our customers. The Power of Project Leadership is an excellent book on leadership in general.
I’ve been a PMI member for many years and I’ve very familiar with the content of this course (and the other courses I review). The course meets the PMI requirements for formal project management education (35 contact hours) and provides you with a certificate for evidence in case your PMP application is audited.

Note: You might have to review your project schedule and plans at this point because inevitably someone will have booked holidays at the exact time you need them to do system testing, or something. As your project moves forward, you should show leadership and management skills.
Leadership skills and other power skills (AKA soft skills) are things you might already have or can pick up on the way. As you don’t have to evidence hours of project management experience when you apply, PRINCE2 is a great alternative to the Project Management Professional (PMP)® course from PMI, the Project Management Institute.

It was (and I still can’t quite believe this) one year ago that I last stepped off a plane after a visit to Geneva and Zurich to deliver a series of presentations and workshops for CERN and PMI Switzerland.
